Development of the Japanese Type 75 self-propelled howitzer began in 1969. First prototype was built in 1971. This artillery system entered service with the JGSDF in 1975. Production of the Type 75 ceased in 1988 with a total of 201 howitzers built. The Type 75 was not exported, as Japan's laws do not allow to export military equipment. The Type 75 is now gradually replaced by the Type 99 self-propelled howitzer._x000D_
