Alenia C-27J Spartan is a modern Italian medium-range transport plane. The flight of the prototype took place in 1999, and the production of the machine started in 2004 and is still going on - to date, about 80 copies of this aircraft have been produced. The drive is provided by two motors Turboprops Rolls-Royce AE2100-D2A with 4,640 HP each . The aircraft reaches a maximum speed of 602 km / h, and its maximum range is 4260 kilometers.
The Alenia C-27J Spartan was created as a far-reaching modification of the Aeritalia G.222 Panda machine, actually being a completely new type of aircraft. Alenia Aeronautica in cooperation with Lockheed Martin is responsible for its design and production. The C-27 J differs from its predecessor with a completely new cockpit, different engines and the design of the propeller blades. It also has improved aerodynamics and much more modern electronic equipment. All this contributed to a significant improvement in the range and maximum speed of the C-27J Spartan machine. At present, machines of this type are used by many operators, including in Australia, Bulgaria, Greece, Morocco, the USA and Italy. The Alenia C-27J Spartan was also offered to Poland as a successor to the An-26 aircraft, but lost the competition to the CASA C-295.
